Kessels Kramer tasked Digital Ambiance with creating an activation piece for Citizen M’s opening in downtown San Francisco. The plan was to use the large glass entrance as a canvas and project client provided content. This was to be projected on loop for a month to introduce Citizen M to the city. Digital Ambiance had 3M two-way projection film installed on the glass facade facing the street. I then wrote a projection and control program in Touchdesigner to combine and monitor two Barco 25k lumen projectors, and mapvideo to the inside of the glass.
By synchronizing two Barco 25k lumen projectors, the installation was able to display clear and vivid imagery that was visible even during daylight hours. However, one of the projectors experienced a malfunction during the month-long activation. I received an email and was informed of the issue promptly. We were able to resolve the issue with minimal downtime.
Collaborating with Digital Ambiance on this project was a great experience. The use of Touchdesigner, synchronized projectors, and remote monitoring facilitated a seamless execution of the installation, providing an impressive visual event.
