The Grammy Award-Winning | American Dreamers: Voices of Hope, Music of Freedom
I had the privilege of contributing as an Audio Engineer to this amazing Grammy Award-winning album by the John Daversa Big Band and produced by Kabir Sehgal and Doug Davis.
The project was developed to bring awareness to DACA and use ‘Dreamer’ musicians. Ultimately 53 Dreamers across the U.S. contributed to the album.
My spouse is Saba Nafees and she was a pianist on the jazz album. She flew out to Miami to record but they needed a couple of extra takes to complete the project.
I have a home studio, so it was only natural that I mic up our piano and get them what they needed.
I was completely surprised and overjoyed to learn that it won three Grammys at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards resulting in my grammy certificate.
The album won in the following categories; best large jazz ensemble album, best improvised jazz solo, and best arrangement, instrumental or A-Capella.
